A Fright in the Night

It is quite alarming to hear your door bell ringing at 3 am. It takes a minute to register "is that my door bell?" I jumped out of bed and looked through the blinds in our window to see who was out there. It was a neighbor a couple of houses down. I asked "What do you need?" He said "YOUR BACK FENCE IS ON FIRE!" What!! I ran in the boys room and peeked out the window and could see glowing red through the trees. So I quickly got dressed and wondered do we need to call the fire department? But figured I could put it out with a hose. I quickly ran outside and turned the hose on. Our next door neighbor was already out there on a ladder from his yard dowsing the fire. The neighbor rang their doorbell first. Chris ran to the backyard neighbors and got them out of bed since their firepit was the culprit from a bonfire they had that night. Needless to say I broke the news to the boys this morning and Caleb said you should have woke me up!. They had plenty of questions, but I think after about a half hour it soaked in and Caleb started to cry about his playground and wanted a hug. Good thing for neighbors looking out for each other and an ending we could deal with.... it could have been a lot worse.

OH MY GOSH! I am so glad that it wasn't worse! That is really scary. I am glad you guys didn't get hurt.
That melted play house is the saddest thing I have ever seen...

It's weird to see all that stuff the kids were playing with on Sunday destroyed like that!
I'm glad everything is (mostly) okay and it didn't turn out much worse!

How sad for the kids' playground. Can we make a donation to help replace it?

How sad for the back fence and the memories attached (Chris and his dad fixing the gate). Do you need a work crew to help replace it?

Does your home-owner's insurance work for this? Or the neighbor's insurance, since it was his fault?

Well at least the backyard neighbors are taking responsibility. We were a little worried. They are working on replacing the fence now. They hauled our melted toys away and just got us a new playhouse on KSL. Not as nice but is still fun. So we will see what happens. If you know someone selling something fun and cheap let us know.

Don't feel bad, I've had a string of bad luck myself! I'll have to post it all later. But at least you found this house on KSL that i'm picking up...i think the neighbors should have waited to find the same one...or maybe when they see you got this one they'll offer to pay for it.
Glad it wasn't any part of your house on fire!!
I was all excited when you called me thinking you knew i was at Kangaroo zoo and were coming to join me!
