Our December Festivities

So now that I am finally feeling pretty good these days, I thought I would do some catching up.
Festival of Trees...

We went to the Festival of Trees this year. The boys were very excited to see Santa and got to sit on his lap. They didn't even cry this year! Caleb asked for Legos and Jacob asked for a blue car.

The boys had a good time viewing the trees, playing some games, and eating a few treats. However, they weren't interested in watching the dancing girls.

This was Jacobs favorite tree

and we had to return to the Grinch three times.

Party...

We had our annual Smith Family Christmas Party at Kathy's clubhouse. We ate lots of yummy food, Grandma read a story/activity, and we played some games.

Grandma's tradition is to get the grandkids an ornament each year for Christmas until they are 18. She is pretty good at getting a theme the kids are interested in each year. Jacob got a train, and Caleb an army tank.

Yeah, we are a little NuTs!

Nativity...
On the Monday night before Christmas, we were invited to attend a live Nativity put on by my Mom's Neighbor and long time friends. They started by giving us a hayride around the neighboorhood as we sang Christmas Carols. Then we were led along the path down to their barn. We stopped along the way as we heard the story of Jesus's birth and little acts and songs along the way. We ended at the stable. We then warmed up with some hot chocolate and a variety of sweet breads. They did an awesome job, and the boys loved it. It really brought the spirit of Christmas.

The next night we decided to visit Temple Square to see the lights. I think it is the first time the boys have ever been there. It was crowded and cold, but we warmed up in the visitor centers. The boys saw the Tram and really wanted to ride it, so we got on at Temple Square and rode it to City center (the next stop). It was short but at least they got a free ride. When we asked what their favorite part of the night was - they said "The Train Ride! - of course.

Christmas Eve......

We let the boys open a gift from Mom and Dad Christmas Eve... so they are sporting their new PJ's. (Wall-e and Transformers)

Leaving Cookies and Milk for Santa.

Jacob said he was going to wake up and sneak downstairs and say BOO and scare Santa. I told him that then he might not get anything. lol.

Merry Christmas!

One of the best things about being a mom is that sometimes you get to be a kid again!

Ben wants to know: "You had Hot Chocolate and baby animal parts?"

Sweet Breads: The thymus or pancreas of a young animal (as a calf) used for food.

Eww... funny how things are defined differently depending on where you're from.

I never saw this blog. Boy your kids are easy...legos and a car. Parks was greedy and wanted a Nintendo DS and not just any legos..either Star wars or Indiana Jones legos. He didn't get those.
About the "Nuts" picture...I can see you picking coodies out of Steph's hair, just like you!
I've only been to the Festival of trees one time, I'll make sure we go next year. And we missed temple square while it was warm and didn't dare when it was freezing so I guess we'll go when the tulips are out.
We have never rode the front runner so we want to take the kids down in it.
