Sleep Deprivation

What happened to my little baby?
My 7 month old now thinks she is a toddler. She seems so much older than she really is. She started crawling at 6 months and now she walks around furniture, gets into my drawers and cupboards to explore.
She is a human vacuum so CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN.

My boys weren't mobile until 9 months and slept through the night at 3 months.

Sleep is not a priority on her list, but it is mine!
She thinks it is so much more important to work on her motor skills...
I must walk and practice standing up again and again in my crib.
She is so determined and stubborn.

HELP!

She hasn't been a good sleeper for the last 4 months. The last 3 weeks I worked hard to finally get her to sleep in her own bed all night and to go to sleep on her own. I let her sleep with me as it was the only way I could get her to sleep. However, I got NONE because I was constantly protecting her. Letting her cry it out was not an option as she cried 2 hours straight and was not giving up. My peditrician recommend the no cry sleep solution. So I had about 6 books from the library to find ANY solution. I decided that just patting my baby to sleep (while crying of course) was what she needed. The first night was 45 minutes of torture but quickly improved. Now she wants her crib and I can put her in and say night night and she will lay down, of course I still have to be in the room but no longer touching her. However, now that she likes her crib, last Sunday at church was a nightmare as she would not fall asleep in my arms.

GOOD THING SHE IS SO DARN CUTE!

It has been a chore but so worth the free time I now have at night. She goes to bed at 7pm instead of 11pm. And sleeps until 11pm. HUGH improvement. Her naps have also gone from 5 min to an hour. But, she is still not sleeping through the night. Lately she wakes up about every hour from 1:30am on ..... So yes my ability to think is impaired, my eyes burn, I feel forgetful, and it doesn't do much for my patience and mood. She is also cranky and clingy. cry cry cry. She is constantly pulling up to my legs so I can't walk. I might as well sew her to my hip. She only wants me - MAMA'S Girl. If someone else has her and I get her, she practically climbs up to my head and smothers me with hugs and kisses. It is nice to feel loved so much but I need a little mommy time!

I NEED A VACATION!!

So lately I have been in the crafty mood. I have been saving old jeans and with the help of my mother (who gratefully loves projects and know I have no time whatsoever) is helping me make camping quilts for the boys. I have been spending my evenings at her home as I don't own a sewing machine and I need the time away. I am also making Caitlyn a twirly skirt and an owl wall hanging for her room. (Yes, my new love is Owls). I will post them when I am done.
As for now..... Happy Dreams Everybody!

Yay! I am so glad you blogged! Caitlyn is SO adorable. That's crazy that she started crawling at 6 months!
I had to cut Josh's naps back when he was a baby because he would sleep all day and then want to be up at night. I don't know if that will work for you. Every kid is different so it is hard to say. And it is hard to hear your baby girl cry!
I made a jean quilt, and I have vowed never to do one again. Bleh. The jeans ruined my good fabric scissors. :P Definately show pictures!

Good to see you blogging again!

I think it is interesting that each child is so unique! Unique challenges. Unique personalities.

Oh she is darling...i want to kiss her cheeks! Naughty little thing tho. I remember feeling like those times would never end! Somehow I made it, but I never fought the "sleep in my bed"...but they are all in their own beds now so it doesn't matter. Although every so often each one of the boys asks to sleep in our bed...they just need a little snuggle time. I can't blame them, I'm a huge "touchy feely" person myself. Even 9yr old Hudson likes to sleep with me. So when Larry is out of town, each boy gets one one night in my bed so I too don't have to sleep alone. he he
Owl necklaces are back in style. Nadia and Mariah both want one my mom had from years ago...they are expensive to buy now..so I told my mom to sell it on Ebay and see what she can get. ha ha Maybe having an owl in Caitlyn's room will have the oppostie affect on her and she'll sleep all night instead of being like an owl!
