The Fair, the Fair, we went to the Fair, and what did we do there?.....
I haven't been to the fair for quite a few years, so decided it might be fun to take the kids this year while they are still free. They have a fun area called "Little Hands on the Farm". The kids get to go through different stations simulating work done on a farm such as milk a cow, feed the animals, plant a garden, drive a tractor, etc. They collect things in their basket along the way and then sell them at the market where they receive a coupon to buy one item in the store at the end. Caleb bought some crackers, and Jacob got fruit snacks. They loved it and wanted to do it again.

We wandered around and looked at some of the animals but Caleb wanted nothing to do with them. He wanted to be carried quickly through and complained that it stunk, but Jacob on the other hand wanted to check them out and touch them.

They had a tiger exhibit and a large reptile exhibit with shows. Of course, the boys chose to watch the reptiles. Jacob had to look at the exhibit over and over again. I guess he couldn't get enough of the creepy things. They had anacondas, boas, a alligator, a Gila Monster, and a large snapping turtle. Caleb wanted to watch the show so bad and had a hard time waiting until it started. I thought we would sit on the front row to get a close up but he wanted to sit on the top bleacher furthest away. He said "because snakes like skin and might eat me". Funny how we are drawn to creepy things but want to keep our distance.

Of all the entries exhibits, I at least got to browse through the art and photography very quickly, apparently not exciting enough for the rest of my family.....
What else to do at the Fair? Well, eat of course, isn't that part of the experience? I believe you need some bravery in eating fair food. What is it made of? I don't know! Will it kill me? MAYBE. Will we eat it? Heck Yeah if it's a funnel cake! Walking around the Fair we noticed quite a few concession stands selling deep fried oreos, twinkies, snickers, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! Who comes up with these ideas? Apparently they are supposed to be yummy. The thought of it made me sick.

definetly for fat kids.
After talking with some co-workers I missed the side show with the short, one legged woman blowing fire out of her mouth, a six legged cow, and a two headed something or other for $3 and you could take a picture for $1 more. HAHAHAHa. Also one person threw up on the Ferris wheel after eating deep fried food and showered everyone. AAAHHH. We avoided the rides.

OOOHHHH!!!! When I looked at the state fair website, and saw the little hands on the farm, I thought Joshua would love this! I am glad you posted pictures! I think it will be way fun. We are going to go on friday :D You guys should go again with us!
Thanks for the little taste of the State Fair. It was almost like being there: I could smell the hot grease for the deep frying. . . .
Check it out.
What? The State fair had the farm stuff for kids!!! I thought you were talking about your little county fair. I should have read this sooner! We just went Yesterday and there was NO farm stuff for kids! And I wanted to go to the Reptile house but got sidetracked trying to figure out where the agriculture was. I like it in the first building where it has always been. I am so frustrated that we missed the fun stuff. I'll be posting mine soon.
That song you have playing really goes with the pictures. The kids I watch were JAMMIN'!! :)
We went. I pushed the G-ma through the Little Hands in her wheelchair trying to catch up with Dara and Jeremy. What a nightmare! The little kids were trying to get around us, the parents wondered what we were up to. I had to sit down for a half an hour when we finally emerged.
